How to generate a maven project from archetype
Instead of manually creating the directory structure needed for an archetype, simply use:
mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeGroupId=org.apidesign.canvas -DarchetypeArtifactId=canvas-archetype -DarchetypeVersion=0.5.2
